Sangalli represents one of the historical haute couture spaces in Milan. It opens in April 1972 in Corso Vittorio Emanuele 15, by Maria Sangalli which takes over another historical atelier in Milan, where she was grown: Atelier D'Alberto.
Since 1986, for almost twenty years, Maria Sangalli goes on with the art of the Italian haute couture in Via Manzoni 38, dressing the high society and collaborating with renowned names of the haute couture system. Here the nephew Federico Sangalli grows up. In December 2004, Maria Sangalli, after almost thirty-five years of activity, more than forty of art and passion and after 70 collections of haute couture and as many fashion show, decides to stop her activity.
Federico Sangalli, who has grew in this refined world, decided to keep on with this universe of dream, made by details and passion, luxury and refinements. In order to save it, to save the taste of the made to measure, of the unique garment, of the handmade, he opened the space Sangalli - Alta Moda. He maintains the same staff, the première Luisa, all the "girls" and makes this real bet. It's 2 February 2005.
History, tradition, haute couture, luxury, smartness and innovative design. All of this is in an exclusive space of the ancient flavour. Today Sangalli is an eclectic place: the tradition, the taste of an old world which seemed to disappear, in the new location lives again in a modern key, where the ancientness and the contemporaneity mix perfectly themselves. Haute couture and high level prêt-à porter. Precious materials, innovative and even technological fabrics. Style and material search. The luxury becomes modern and wants to move with the times..
SinceFederico Sangalli was a child, he has been in touch with this world made with a needle, thread, precious fabrics, maneguins, pins. Before in Corso Vittorio Emanuele, then in Via Manzoni where he artistically grows up and where he starts his activity. Besides collaborating to the haute couture collections of Maria Sangalli, since 2001 he creates a series of collections of high level prêt-à-porter leather and accessories (he call this mood: Couture-a-Porter) which created a real new trend.
For the theatrical season 2004-2005 he dresses powered by Lufthansa the ushers and usherettes of the theatres Nazionale, Smeraldo, Ciak of Milan. In the same time he creates a temporary collection of t-shirts sold in these three theatres which has a great success in the Summer 2004. Since February 2005, opening his atelier, he start to create his haute couture collections. In 2005 and 2006 he designed leather items for Andrea Odicini. In 2008 he designed the theatre dresses for Luciana Savignano, the important ballerina guest star of Teatro alla Scala di Milano. In 2009 he made dresses for Ms Carla Fracci and FIRA Foundation.
Federico Sangalli won the second edition (2008) of Fashion Incubator, a fashion contest by Camera Nazionale della Moda Italiana for new fashion talents. After his ss2009 fashion shows in Tokyo and Milan (September 2008), and his fw2009-2010 fashion shows in Milan and Istanbul (February 2009) powered by Camera Nazionale della Moda, he presented his first personal pap fashion show during Milano Moda Donna, in 2009 september the 29th. 2010 March 1st at Milano Moda Donna, David Parsons, performed his FW2010/2011 pap collection "Dressing & Dancing the Future".
